The Dutch Institute for Art History in Florence is in the process of cataloguing over ten thousand Dutch and Flemish paintings in Italian public collections. Many of these are outstanding works of art, little known to both the art specialist and the wider public. The two volumes of the third part, dedicated to the approximately 1100 Dutch and Flemish paintings in Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta, comprise works by several hundreds of artists, among them Rogier van der Weyden, Pietro Grammorseo, Bartholomeus Spranger, Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck, Rembrandt, Gerard Dou, Pieter Saenredam, and Jan Miel.
