Breitz investigates contemporary media culture through the use of the language of the entertainment industry that includes pop music, television and Hollywood films. Re-editing, re-contextualising and otherwise re-interpreting familiar elements of the mediated mass culture landscape, the artist produces critically engaging multi-channel video installations. This catalogue, produced for a solo show at The Power Plant in Toronto, collects together a survey of her work to date while also presenting a new commissioned series of works collectively entitled Factum. Illustrated throughout with colour film stills, the catalogue also includes a number of critical essays along with biographic details.
