The exhibition features six rare and pivotal paintings by Malevich which are brought together with works by modern and contemporary American artists including Carl Andre, John Baldessari, Alexander Calder, Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Agnes Martin, Barnett Newman, Ad Reinhardt, Ed Ruscha, Robert Ryman, Richard Serra, Frank Stella, James Turrell, and Cy Twombly. The catalogue includes essays by Donald Judd (Art in America, March/April 1974) and John Coplans (Artforum, June 1974) as well as a conversation between James Turrell and Mark Francis.
